Collaborative task (20 mins):

In groups of 3-4 people:

1. Identify a course and

  • outline the learning outcomes
  • outline the assessment(s)

2. Choose 1 of the assessments outlined above and

  • discuss the approach used in the assessment for assessing the students
    • identify the approach and discuss the pros and cons
  • discuss the alignment of the assessment with the learning and teaching process
    • in what way(s) does the assessment complement student's learning
    • identify possible events in the assessment that create opportunities for conversations (feedback)
    • discuss how it could be improved
  • redesign the assessment (if needed) to reflect the qualities of an embedded assessment

3. Present back to the class (10 mins)
